Oboyob is a rock music band from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The band started its journey in early 2009 by Imran and Sadid with the former name “Chaotic Symphony”. In mid 2010, it was restructured and renamed to Oboyob/অবয়ব (Meaning: Indistinct Form or Figure) with the then members – Imran, Sadid, Kashfee, Marzuq, Russel, Tanna and Sazib. The current Oboyobians are Kashfee, Tanna, Tahmid and Himel, while Marzuq contributes from abroad as and when necessary. Oboyob released its first single – titled “Ghowr” in 2011. Later, the band released 4 more singles in various mixed albums. Band’s first full length solo album came out in the year 2019, titled “Abirbhab”.
After initially been recognized as a Pink Floyd Tribute band, Oboyob eventually began working on its originals too. Each and every performance and jamming sessions helped the band to explore and build its own sound and to write up lyrics with the reflections of various living and non-living subjects. The diverse taste, character and background of each member of Oboyob blends together passionately to create unique and mystic compositions and mesmerizing ambiances for its live audiences. Although being highly influenced by psychedelic rock and covering legendary English and Bengali bands/artists from the 80’s, Oboyob takes inspirations from various contemporary acts and embraces different sub-genres of Rock and Roll in its creations.
